Antique Samson Meissen Porcelain French Figure Group. He has a basket containing flowers and a strapped bag over his shoulder, he has flowers in both hands, one being over the ladies head. She is seated with flowers on her lap and is stroking a lamb. Behind both figures is a tree stump with leaves.The piece is made from hard paste porcelain and is heavy for its size. Condition:- the Gentleman unfortunately has lost most of his right foot with just the heel remaining. Some leaves / tips missing from the bocage, the lamb has a small firing crack across the front left leg and the lady is missing a finger tip on her left hand. To the base is a blue Sampson mark, painted over the glaze. Edme Sampson started making porcelain c1830 in France, the wares he made were copies of pieces made by the main porcelain manufacturers of the time, Meissen, Sevres, Chelsea, Worcester and Derby etc.
