A superb figurine made by Meissen in the late 19th century. Meant to show the element fire of the four element series.
It is of a young gentleman mixing some hot chocolate in his little Meissen porcelain cup with the hot chocolate pot next to him on the table, another pot on the fire with the putto sitting on a nice chair all on a typical oval base with grasses on it and scroll work all along the edge highlighted with gilding. A superb piece meant to show the element of fire for the four elements series first designed by Kaendler in the 18th century around 1770.
Not a rare piece but it is very often damaged along the handle or spout of the pot, etc and a more modern version so this piece here is quite nice. A very well modeled and painted piece! The figurine is in great condition with the hot chocolate mixing stick chipped at the top which is not noticeable and a chip along the edge of the base as shown but there is glaze and color in it so it is from the making. It was still designated a first choice so it is definitely not distracting when on display and in fact it displays perfectly! It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords as well as the usual incised model number as well as an impressed number and a black painter's number 53.
The figure is about 4 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide and 2.75 inches deep. German 19thC Germany Feuer Schokolade. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces.
