A superb figurine made by Meissen in the late 19th century. It is of a young gentleman / putto mixing some hot chocolate in his little Meissen porcelain cup with the hot chocolate pot next to him on the table, another pot on the fire with the putto sitting on a nice chair all on a typical oval base with grasses on it and scroll work all along the edge highlighted with gilding.A superb piece meant to show the element of fire for the four elements series first designed by Kaendler in the 18th century around 1770. Not a rare piece but it is very often damaged or a more modern version so this piece here is quite nice. A very well modeled and painted piece!
This one here has the yellow cloth around his mid section but there is also a pink and blue version out there. The figurine is in great condition - perfect on first and second glance but upon a closer look one spots something is off - the spout of the pot on the fire is missing - it was ground down and colored over perfectly so it really is not obvious at all. Took me a bit to spot!It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords as well as the usual incised model number as well as an impressed number and a black painter's number 16. The figure is about 4.25 inches tall, 4.75 inches wide and 3 inches deep. New this model costs around 5K so this is a steal. German 19thC Germany Feuer Schokolade.
