A large cup and saucer probably for breakfast made by Meissen in the later 19th century. The saucer is hand painted with panels of superb floral arrangements on white ground surrounded by some fancy gold trim. The cup has a single superb floral arrangement to the front on white ground surrounded by the same gold trim. The rest of the cup & saucer have a deep cobalt blue ground color and some more fancy gold trim all over.
The outside rim of the saucer and inside rim of the cup also have a gold trim to it as shown as does the foot ring. There is a nice design to the center of the saucer and the inside bottom of the cup. The handle of the cup is in the shape of two intertwined branches with a bit of gold trim to them.
The set is in excellent condition with very very minimal wear to the gilding. Both pieces are marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as well as the usual impressed numbers as shown - first choice off course. The saucer is just over 1.375 inches tall and 5.625 inches in diameter and the cup is 2.75 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.875 inches. German Germany Tasse Blumen Kobalt Blau.
