A really nice cup and saucer made by Meissen in about 1750. Both pieces are hand painted with two large birds of paradise scenes as well as some small flowers but my favorite part is the superb blue scale type trim to the edge with some nice gilding. One of the best trims they had and with the quality of the bird scenes this would have been a top end piece for this period.

The set displays nicely but each piece has a small chip to the rim as shown. A little wear to the saucer but very minimal, some wear to the inside gold trim of the cup and a firing crack or at least a firing flaw caused hairline across the bottom end of the handle as shown. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.125 inches. The saucer is about 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Each piece is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed number and a puce painter's mark 28.
